'tis the season for giving, right? consider giving a pair of toms shoes to a loved one this year, and you'll actually be giving two people a pair of shoes – for every pair of shoes purchased, toms gives a pair to a child in need. their slogan is "one for one."

it all started in 2006 when american traveler blake mycoskie discovered that children in argentina had no shoes to protect their feet. mycoskie then created toms, and later that year, he returned to argentina with a group of family, friends and staff – and 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by toms customers.

toms has also received support from high-profile celebrities such as keira knightley, cameron diaz and demi moore, as well as an aggressive internet marketing campaign. the company's shoes range from comfy flats to glittery slip-ons to wedges. prices range around $50, and think of all the good you're doing.
