steve madden graanie boot

since it seems retailers push the next big season earlier and earlier each year, I always wonder when we'll start seeing fall fashion in stores in, say, february. I mean, it's not even august and nordstrom is having a huge sale on all things fall. and as I was perusing the pottery barn kids website the other day, I noticed they already have a tab for...halloween?! really?

in any case, all this attention given to fall has worked, because I'm eyeing these lace-up booties from steve madden for $129.95. I love the color and that thick, stacked heel. plus, I rarely find a pair of lace-up boots I like (most remind me of hooker boots). the best part is, these would look adorable with a spring or summer dress, too.

okay, slightly really rad

the question posed as the lead in this story asks, "would you pay a grand for a shoe made of trash?" in this particular case, my answer, decidedly, is a resounding YES.

louboutin's "ecotrash" slingback is made with actual garbage collected from the shoemaker's dumpster – such as thread, postage stamps, sequins and fabric swatches. buy them for $1,095 at neiman marcus, if you so desire.

and with that, my heart leads me here, courtesy of jeffrey campbell:

I mean, if this doesn't make up for a 3-month absence, I'm not sure what does (click on the photo to make it bigger). particularly loving the black-and-white gingham sandals near the center, the strappy black boots (second row, first column) and the taupe clog sandals (last row, second column from last).

right?!

welcome back, readers. I heart.
