well-informed wednesday: kate middleton's royal wedding shoes

before I get into today's post, some of you might be wondering why today is "well-informed wednesday" as opposed to the typical "what's new wednesday." well, I recently discovered that more than a few other blogs also feature "what's new wednesday," and in the interest of preserving originality, I decided I wanted a title a bit more unique! so, henceforth, wednesdays here on hip hip shoe-ray will be known as "well-informed wednesday," giving you all the latest in shoe news, designs and trends.

without further ado, the latest this week, dear readers, is that royal bride-to-be kate middleton is deciding which shoes she'll wear to walk down the aisle! rumor has it she'll be outfitted in the lowest heeled pair of shoes in royal wedding history, as she's leaning toward a pair of slipper-like flats covered in layers of silk and heavy embroidery. (I wonder if she'll go with a british-based designer like, say, jimmy choo?)

I can't say I blame the girl for not wanting to trip over herself while the whole world watches, but what a shame that these beauties might never see the light of day – these are sketches from a handful of high-end designers who were asked to create the perfect royal wedding shoe for kate. (can you imagine if you got the same treatment for your wedding?! a girl can dream.)

oh, well. there will be plenty of partying, dancing and general merry-making after the ceremony, I'm sure, so maybe kate will still consider one of these.
