the question posed as the lead in this story asks, "would you pay a grand for a shoe made of trash?" in this particular case, my answer, decidedly, is a resounding YES.
louboutin's "ecotrash" slingback is made with actual garbage collected from the shoemaker's dumpster – such as thread, postage stamps, sequins and fabric swatches. buy them for $1,095 at neiman marcus, if you so desire.
however, apparently the shoe is also comprised of a coat of PVC as well as genuine python skin. hmmmm.
(I still adore them.)
